The Garden Route is one of the World’s great tourist routes, offering an incredible range of sites and activities. Showcasing our incredible diversity and natural beauty- a world in one country!

On this route, you have the opportunity to visit an ancient limestone cave, traverse stunning mountain passes and lakes. Meander through charming villages and towns, pass by fruit and wine farms, visit world-class game reserves and take a ferry cruise on Knysna Lagoon.

For the physically active, there is bungee-jumping, ab-sailing, white-water rafting, shark-cage diving, Tree-top Canopy Tours, sky-diving and quad-biking. Game drives to view the Big 5 and whale watching (in season)

Itinerary

You have a choice of either a three, four or five day tour.
You may start and finish inCape Town, or start inCape Town and end inPort Elizabeth, from where you can connect with other centers inSouth Africa such asDurban orJohannesburg.

Tsitsikamma National Park walks and hikes- suspension bridge, river cruise.
Oudsthoorn Ostrich ranch, Wildlife Ranch, Cango Caves.

There is a reduced rate for 3 and more persons travelling together.

Accommodation

Accommodation is in superior 3 star and 4 star guest houses and hotels.

Entry Fees

All entry fees as stated- are included in the final rate-unless otherwise agreed.

Meals and Refreshments

All breakfasts are included, one dinner on the Game reserve package is included.
Excluded is lunches, dinners and refreshments.

Bookings and Itinerary

We will consult with you in person at our offices in Observatory or at your hotel. Once you have decided on the length of your tour and your choice of sites to visit, a rate will be quoted. There will be no charge for this.
On acceptance, you will pay us a 50% deposit, and a personal itinerary will be drawn up for you.
The balance is payable on day of departure.

 

 

 

ITINERARY- example.

Day one

Depart early morning fromCape Town, travel on the inland Route 62 through fruit and wine country- until we reach Oudtshoorn in the early afternoon.

We vist the Cango caves for a guided tour- 1 hr, before checking in to our hotel for the night

Overnight Oudtshoorn.

Day Two

After breakfast and check-out, visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch and the Ostrich Farm, before setting off for the coast across the beautiful Outeniqua Mountains- passing through George and arriving in Knysna where we board the ferry for our Knysna Lagoon Cruise.

Overnight Knysna.

Day Three

We take the short 2-hour trip to theTsitsikammaNational Park, a stunning coastal Reserve, make an OPTIONAL stop at the Blaaukrans Bungy- the world’s highest at 216 meters.

Visit the Birds of Eden OR Monkeyland, and theKnysnaElephantPark-“up-close and personal” and take a stroll on the beautiful beach atPlettenbergBayor Nature’s Valley before heading off for Knysna.

Overnight Knysna

Day Four

After breakfast and check-out, we head forCape Townvia Mosselbay, where we visit theDiazMuseumand theKhoisanCaveat the sea-front.

We travel along the N2 motorway, making several comfort stops, before arriving inCape Townin the early afternoon.

Day two

07H30 After breakfast, depart for the town of George.
09h00 Board the Outeniqua Choo-Choo- a steam train ride to Knysan via the Wilderness National Park and the Lakelands area- 2.5 hours.
12h00 Met by your guide in Knysna
13h00 After a break for lunch, depart for the TsiTsikamma National Park via Plettenberg Bay and the Blaukrans pass- the highest Bungee Jump in the world-216m (optional)
15h00 Arrive TsiTsi kamma -a pristine coastal resort where you may walk on an ancient Khoisan trail, crossing the suspension bridge. Enjoy refreshments on the deck overlooking the Indian Ocean.
17h00 Depart.
18h30 Arrive Knysna – check in to your hotel, the 4-star Log-Inn or similar- evening at leisure. The Knysna waterfront is two minutes walk away and offers a range of places to eat/shop.

OVERNIGHT KNYSNA

Day Three

After breakfast, explore this eclectic town on your own. Many interesting little shops are hidden away in alleys and old workshops- Knysna was the center of the logging industry which gave rise to its busy craft industry. Explore the Waterfront shopping for unusual gift items.

12h00 Meet your guide at the Waterfront where he will guide you to your boat cruise on the lagoon – sailing right up to the ‘heads’- the opening in the Bluff where the lagoon enters the sea.
13h30 This afternoon we drive to Plettenberg Bay, where en-route we visit the Elephant Park and the Wolf Sanctuary OR Monkey World.(two sites)
16h00 After tea in Plettenberg Bay, we return to Knysna via Natures Valley.
18h00 Arrive Knysna- evening at leisure

OVERNIGHT KNYSNA

Day Four

After breakfast, check out of hotel.
09h00 Depart knysna, proceed on the N2 motorway towards Cape Town.
10h00 Dolphin Point for the stunning views of Wilderness Beach
11h30 MosselBay-Diaz Museum-the history of the Khoisan people and of the early settlers/explorers
12h30 Depart.
15h30 Arrive Cape Agulhas- the Southernmost tip of Africa. Have a light meal in the old lighthouse.
17h00 Depart
18h30 Arrive Hermanus- the best land-based Whale Watching spot in the world( in season)
19h00 Depart
